The IRS will be increasing face-to-face visits with high-income taxpayers nationwide who have failed to file previous year tax returns. High-income non-filer taxpayers are those who receive income of $100,000 or more during a tax year and did not file a tax return. If you believe you are a high-income non-filer taxpayer, do not confuse a face-to-face visit by an IRS revenue officer with a scam. These visits will be happening to those high-income non-filer taxpayers who have, for an extended period of time, been receiving numerous letters from the IRS informing them of their noncompliance. This new initiative is an effort from the IRS to bring as many taxpayers into compliance as possible. If you receive a visit from a revenue officer, remember that you have rights! You have the right to ask to see their two forms of credentials (a serial number and a photo). The officer will also not make threats or demand an unusual form of payment. The officer will provide a range of options for making payment on any federal tax debt. If you have any questions regarding these visits or if you would like to file previous year tax returns, feel free to DM us on instagram. . .
